County Durham & Darlington NHS Foundation Trust, Special Care Baby Units

We are delighted to say that we will be supporting both Special Care Baby Units at both Durham and Darlington hospitals.

The wards, which are level one units, provide  special and high dependency care for babies born prematurely or poorly. They have the facilities to stabilise babies that require intensive care before transferring them to Level 3 units, such as the RVI or James Cook University Hospital.

We will be working with them in our first year to offer the following care:

. Counselling

. Peer support

. Welcome packs

. Community support

. Sibling support
