Karen – Trustee,Resident Midwife & Safeguarding Officer

I have been a midwife for 11 years now and have always worked in the North East. I love being a midwife, no two days are ever the same, you just never know what to expect or who will come through the doors.

Every delivery is different, you’re never bored, and always kept on your toes. Sometimes, this is why I find my job incredibly hard. I hate having to tell parents bad news about their baby, or not knowing the answers to important questions which will put their mind at ease. But, I love being there to see people become parents, even when their babies are born very early or sadly, they don’t survive. It is such a privilege to be involved.

In 2016 I won Midwife of The Year and I have recently become the Ward Manager on the delivery suite at North Tees Hospital.

I am happily married and have a step-daughter and a very naughty cocker spaniel! We all love nothing better than getting outside in the great outdoors and exploring new places.
