Vicky Ford, Neonatal Ward Manager, James Cook University Hospital

I started my journey as a neonatal nurse in 1996 at James Cook University Hospital and have most recently taken up the post of ward manager. As a newly qualified nurse I always wanted to work as a neonatal nurse having spent a short time on the unit as a student. The fact that I am still here after all these years may say a little for how I feel about my job. Its a privilege to share the journey that many families take with a sick or premature baby, every family and journey being unique.

During my years on the unit I have also worked as a community neonatal nurse supporting families after discharge home. I hope the knowledge and skills I have gained over the years will be useful as an advisor for Leo’s and look forward to working with this amazing team.

Outside of work I am a Mother of three and grandmother of five. I love spending time with my family, going on holiday and keeping fit.
